Horizontal Tire Carriers: Why an In-Bed Rack Beats a Spare You Can't Reach

If you're running oversized tires — 35s, 37s, anything past factory spec — you already know the OEM spare setup wasn't built for them. It either doesn't fit under the bed, or it forces a mismatched spare size. Our Horizontal Tire Rack solves that with a dedicated, bolt-on spot in the bed for a full-size spare — no drilling, no compromise on size, and no giving up your whole cargo area to a vertical rack or roof mount.

We build this rack in two versions to match your bed's factory bolt pattern:

Both are $592.84, built and specced identically — only the bolt pattern changes to match your generation.

What you get

Each rack bolts directly onto your factory bed bolts and carries up to a 38" tire, covering the large majority of aftermarket setups without needing a custom fabrication job. Just as important: each rack is a direct bolt-on for a jack mount — our own Badland 3-Ton and 1.5-Ton mounts, plus Pro Eagle 2/3-ton mounts, attach straight to it. Your spare and your recovery jack end up sharing one footprint instead of competing for two separate spots in your bed.

Included with every rack:

  • Tire carrier with all mounting hardware
  • Hardware for attaching a jack mount (mount sold separately)
  • 4 dust caps
  • 1 GFW Y-strap

Lead time: Raw steel ships in about a week; Flat Black powder coat takes 1–2 weeks. Ships UPS Ground.

Why this beats strapping a spare in loose

  • You reclaim your factory spare location for something else, instead of forcing an oversized tire into a spot it was never meant to fill.
  • Your jack and your spare live together, so a flat on the trail means going to one spot, not hunting through your bed for two separate pieces of gear.
  • It's a real bolt-on, using the same 6 factory bed points Ford already engineered for load — not a strap-and-hope setup.

One owner running the Gen 1 version put it simply after a 100-mile Raptor Run: it bolted in tight, held the tire and jack securely, and didn't budge.

Plan the pair, not just the rack

Since the jack mount is sold separately, decide upfront which one you're pairing with your rack — 3-Ton Badland or 1.5-Ton Badland — so you order the full setup in one pass instead of finding out later you need a second piece to finish it.
